Title on cover: Riformanze.
Signatures: Catchwords in lower margin, last verso of each quire. One signature visible, roman numeral vi, lower left of f. 53r (first recto of quire 6).
Collation: 71; [i], 118, 26, 310, 44, 510 (+4), 612 (+2), 74; [i], 1-70]; contemporary foliation in ink, upper right recto. The first leaf is detached and is laid in before f. 1. It is wrapped in tissue paper.
Script: Written in a Gothic cursive script in the hand of the notary Angelus Johanutti de Montegranario (see signatures on f. 1r, 22v, 36v, 43v, 46v, 49v and 68v). His name in Italian might be Angelo Giovannuzzi (see description by H. P. Kraus).
Decoration: Embellished black initials (for example, f. 1r); notarial signets (f. 1r, 22v, 25r, 36v, 43v, 46v, 49v, 68v); contemporary drawing of what appears to be a notarial signet (inside upper cover).
Binding: Contemporary Italian limp vellum with laced cords along spine.
Origin: Written in Monterubbiano, Italy from September 1417 (f. 4r) to 1418 (f. 1r).
The paper contains watermarks similar to Piccard VII. vi. 417 (Carrara, 1413) and Briquet 11750 (1418).
There is evidence of water damage. Some of the leaves show evidence of mildew damage and are very fragile.
On file in the Library is a two-page description of the manuscript provided by the dealer H. P. Kraus, which had previously been laid into the manuscript. Also previously laid in and now on file are five sheets of transcriptions and English translations of portions of the manuscript. Four of these appear to be 20th century in date; the fifth appears older than the others but still later than...
Once owned by Sr. Battista Cicco di Fermo[?], whose name appears in two different versions on the front cover.
