This well-preserved manuscript is a collection of obituaries written by family, friends and students of the deceased, Cho Kwangjin (Nul In). It is written in Chinese characters, but most likely to be Korean judged by family names of the deceased.
Authors of the obituaries include 丁友, 壽聃, 甲教, and several others. The body of the obituaries typically comprises a summary of life, praise of the moral character, expressions of grief as well as the author’s past interactions with the deceased.
Nul In is the nickname of Cho Kwangjin (1772-1840), a famous calligrapher from Joseon. He is considered one of the three most famous calligraphers in Joseon history. - Keyword:
