Written in medium large naskh in black ink with use of red for headings, vocalization, and re-inking. Dark cream paper with pulp and a few lines visible. Catchword on the verso of each leaf. Table of contents by a later hand on fol. i-iv (later addition on glazed European paper with watermark). Copy completed on 5 Jumādá al-Ūlá 885 (colophon, fol. 181b). Two ownership statements with seal on fol. 1a, signed Ḥasan ibn Ḥājjī Ṣafar ; al-Sayyid ʻAlī ibn al-Sayyid Muḥammad Karkarī (dated 1151 [1738 or 9]). Acquired by Robert Garrett from Brill, 1925, from the books of Murād Bey al-Bārūdī (Beirut).
