21 lines per page. Written in medium small naskh with elements of taʻlīq in black ink with use of red for overlining and for the word "qawluh" (spaces for the latter left blank on some leaves). Thin light biscuit paper with large laid lines and pulp visible. Fol. 416b-418b: Blank. Fol. 1 and 417-418 are a later added flyleaves on European paper with watermark, with inscriptions on fol. 1a.
Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "Ḥāʼ 213/2". Inscription in red pencil in Arabic script on fol. 1a: "Uṣūl 1/78".
Copy completed on 1 Jumādá al-Ākhar 988 [July 14, 1580] (colophon, fol. 416a).
Four ownership statements on fol. 3a, in the name of Muḥammad ibn al-Walī, dated 26 Dhū al-Ḥijjah 1008 (or 1006?) [July 1600 or 1598]; of ...?, dated 1051 H.
